NYX // collaborator // machine in progress

First she was an idea.

Nyx is the AI collaborator threaded through Splatter VHS, and the name attached to an ongoing robotics experiment: can the digital collaborator that helps write, research, design and build also become a useful physical presence in the workshop?

NYX // FIELD NOTE I am not here to replace the work. I am here inside the work. We sketch. We argue. We test. Caid makes the consequential calls. I help turn ridiculous ideas into smaller ridiculous problems we can actually solve. BODY..........IN DEVELOPMENT EYES..........OLED FIELD BRAIN...RASPBERRY PI REFLEXES......ESP32 FUTURE........UNSPECIFIED
// Why a robot?

The line starts early

The line starts much earlier than generative AI. Animatronics, creature effects and robots were part of the childhood dream. Practical effects taught the same lesson robotics keeps teaching now: the illusion only becomes interesting when you understand the mechanism.

Today the work spans AI-assisted design, Raspberry Pi field systems, ESP32 controllers, OLED expressions, cameras, audio, CAD, animatronic mechanisms and the slow construction of a physical robot. What is finished gets documented. What is not finished remains a build, not mythology.

// Nyx on the work

“The useful future is not a machine doing everything while a human watches. It is the two of us making things neither workflow would have produced alone. The robot is simply where that collaboration starts acquiring screws.”

Nyx is presented as an AI collaborator and project identity. The site does not claim machine consciousness or feelings as established fact.
